ATvantage Helps Promote Health and Wellness of SoCal Student-Athletes

ANAHEIM, Calif. – Sept. 9, 2015 – ATvantage Athletic Training continues to provide Southern California high school districts with a unique solution to create safer environments for their student-athletes and help schools in the area stay in compliance with the recently passed AB2127.

During the 2014-15 school year, ATvantage placed contract athletic trainers at seven high schools. This year, that total has increased over 250 percent as ATvantage now provides coverage to 18 schools in and around Orange County. Districts include Anaheim Union, Baldwin Park, Covina Valley and Garden Grove Unified.

“We are thankful for the increased recognition of the athletic training profession and our ability to continue meeting the needs of the community,” Alisha M. Pennington, owner of ATvantage, LLC said.  “We look forward to this coming school year and serving all of our districts, their student athletes, and the greater community who are directly impacted as a result of having athletic trainers present.”

As concerns over football related injuries continue to rise, AB2127 put regulations in place to limit full-contact practices for middle and high school football teams. The bill, which went into effect on January 1, 2015, also increased the return-to-play protocol when a player sustains a concussion from five to seven days and prompted the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) to recognize athletic trainers by specifically naming them in their new protocol. These guidelines have added to the need for athletic training services and school districts have chosen ATvantage to bridge the gap.
